Welcome to my web site, dedicated to 3D graphics. Mostly, I use POV, but in the future I hope to broaden my horizons to include other packages. Also, POV is free. If you've been here before, you'll notice the new look. It is to commemorate the release of CityGen v1.5 (See utilities page). If you've never visited my site, please feel free to look around and e-mail me with any comments you might have. If you've been here before, let me know what you think of the change!
What does 'all in a dither' mean?
'All in a dither' refers to being excited about something...in my case, Computer Graphics. It's also a pun, because 'dither' is a CG term for a random pattern of dots appearing as a continuous tone (Background image is an example of dithering).
What is POV?
POV is short for POVRay, which is short for the Persistence of Vision Raytracer. POVRay is a freeware raytracer created by a team of programmers who, out of the goodness of their heart, made this incredibly awesome, feature-packed raytracer absolutely free. It can be yours from The POVRay Home Page. All of the images in the gallery were created using this program.
What is a raytracer?
A raytracer is a program that takes a description of a scene (in the case of POVRay, a script file) in 3D and shoots imaginary light rays at the objects of the scene. By calculating how these imaginary rays intersect and reflect off of the surfaces of the objects in the scene, incredibly photorealistic images can be generated.
